My Five Ravens Publishing was founded on a simple, stubborn principle: stories matter most when they are true to the human experience. We prioritize human-written fiction in an age of automation. We believe meaningful stories should come from lived experience, imagination, careful writing, and emotional truth.
Our Books
Permanent Scars is the debut novel from My Five Ravens Publishing. Written by Royce Scratch, it follows Oto, a fictional character living with Bipolar 1 disorder, through hospitalization, diagnosis, family trauma, and life after.
Human-Written Fiction
At My Five Ravens, we publish fiction written by humans to be read by humans. Our focus is meaningful fiction, first-time authors, lived experience, imagination, and careful writing. We do not publish AI-generated storytelling.
About Troy Mott
Troy Mott is the founder and publisher of My Five Ravens Publishing. He began his publishing career in 1995 after earning his Master’s degree in English with an emphasis on creative writing. Early in his career, Troy co-authored Windows 95 in a Nutshell and worked closely with Tim O’Reilly, founder of O’Reilly Media. After decades in technical publishing, Troy is returning to fiction and storytelling through My Five Ravens.
About Royce Scratch
Royce Scratch is the author of Permanent Scars. Royce Scratch is a pen name used to protect medical privacy. The book is shaped by lived experience with Bipolar 1 disorder, 23 years of treatment, and six psychiatric admissions.
